RESTAURANTS IN BYRON BAY

They say that the way to a person's heart is through their stomach, which is probably the case-and-point of why we have all fallen so head-over-love-struck-heels for Byron. My personal consensus (I’ve put a bit of thought into this) is that Byron is a foodie paradise, mainly due to the local fresh produce and also the calibre of chefs and restaurants in the area. With around 30,000 residents populating the shire and over 2 million tourists it has a small town mentality of ‘if you don’t produce quality everybody knows about it’ combined with the huge amount of tourist resourcing to justify investing in beautiful fit outs, top notch chefs and industry professionals who are willing to push the limits of cuisine (and just about everything else). Every time I have visited there has been somewhere new to try, so after a glorious day in paradise, what better way to farewell the sun with a great dining experience, from the multifaceted options at your fingertips.

CAFES FOR BREAKFAST/ BRUNCH/ LUNCH IN BYRON BAY

If you love healthy and genuinely good-for-you food Byron is the eating destination of your dreams. Coming here I feel like I can eat decadently and self indulge myself in all of my favourite things to eat and yet feel as light and healthy as ever. It’s a detox for the body, disguised via sustainably produced ingredients, organic everything and a real focus on reducing the nasties like refined sugar. So you are eating yummy but looking after your insides (and your waistline, hallelujah). There is so much diversity here, I would be so surprised if you couldn’t find a cafe that you didn’t fall head over heels in love with - these places live up to their Instagram perfectness. Here are my eight favourite finds to start the day right, whether you are up with the sun or have enjoyed a lazy sleep in, all of which I keep coming back to time and time again.

LAMINGTONS FOR AUSTRALIA DAY

Australia Day is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate that eating our way through some of Australia’s most iconic foods with our loved ones - preferably around a BBQ at the beach or by a backyard pool. Lamingtons rank pretty highly on the list, and they are my favourite because they fall squarely into the ‘baked-goods’ category. Plus, they are the perfect companion (along with a pav/pavlova) for an Australia Day backyard BBQ.

10 OF THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES

There are so many things I love about Christmas, the fairy lights, the gingerbread and generally the happy glow everybody has about them knowing presents and holidays are on the horizon. For me, watching copious amounts of Christmas cheer is definitely high on my list, after all who doesn’t love a fairytale or drama with a festive twist? So strap in and make yourself some popcorn (or a hot chocolate with marshmallows and a gingerbread man, because, you know - it’s Christmas!) and work your way through my favourite Christmas movies.

HOW TO GET CAMERA READY

Travelling the world there is no artificial lighting, no wind machine, no hairstylist ensuring every strand is in place, no makeup artist and no stylist (or any of their assistants). Personally, I'm glad that there isn't, a little rawness in life is bliss. Here are some tips and tricks I swear by to get myself looking (almost) professional photoshoot without too much manipulation or an army of professionals behind the scenes.

9 SITES TO SEE IN COPENHAGEN

To be completely honest, Copenhagen isn’t really about the landmarks and the tourist moments. For me it was all about immersing myself into the Danish lifestyle and (at least attempting to) blend in like a local. Think eating amazing food, cycling from A to B, wandering the city streets and generally chilling out. But until you get the hang of this city, these top-notch spots are a great place to start.

CYCLING THROUGH COPENHAGEN

When visiting Copenhagen, forget the Metro or ‘just walking around’ – it’s time to get yourself some wheels and jump on a saddle. Bicycle culture is a major part of everyday life in Copenhagen with more bikes populating the city compared to people and over 350 kilometres of cycle tracks complete with dedicated traffic lights that provide cyclists right of way over cars. All in all, cycling from point A to point B is fast, easy, convenient, relatively cheap and generally good for the soul.

WHAT TO PACK FOR A EUROPEAN HOLIDAY

Generally speaking, for me summer in Europe is all about bright colourful prints, flowy dresses, bright whites, light silks and soft linens. I always split my outfits up into specific destinations and match them back to that city – not every location suites bright-tropical-fruity-printed-dress-with-matching-headscarf. Here are my essentials to pack for a European holiday.

GLAMPING IN DAYLESFORD

I love the idea of immersing myself into nature, escaping the busy city for some quiet and serenity but I don’t like the idea of sleeping in a sleeping bag with insects and bugs. Cue, Cosy Tents, who have brought the best elements of camping together with some luxury touches, to make the perfect middle ground between a tent and a hotel room.

THE BEST BARS IN SYDNEY

It’s no secret I love a good cocktail (or two), so I thoroughly enjoyed working my way through the best bars Sydney has to offer. This city hosts a huge variety of bars, from rooftops to basements and everything in-between, there quite literally somewhere for everyone in whatever mood or vibe you seek. I quickly discovered, most of the best bars are not the easiest to find, hidden away from the casual passer-by and they almost always have a great backstory. Here is a selection of my favourite bars in Sydney.

MY FAVOURITE SPOTS TO EAT IN MADRID

This nocturnal city beats to a different food clock. The locals usually don’t have breakfast until around 10am, lunch is between 2pm and 4pm and dinner isn’t until after 9pm. For me, a part of diving into the Spanish culture is working to this schedule and having a few strategic snacks so that I can last until 9pm for dinner. The best part is, you don’t have to go to a Michelin starred restaurant to find the best food in Madrid. Wandering the back streets of La Latina, the food halls and the small family run restaurants are the best places to be. Here are a few of foodie highlights from Madrid.

Barcelona doesn’t stop for a breath. It is a vibrant city bustling with life and energy. It hosts many beautiful contrasts as gothic churches mix with Antoni Gaudí’s modernistic architectural creations and located just footsteps away are the beach, great restaurants, bars and nightclubs. During peak Summer season, it lives up to the hype of being the Spanish tourism success story. In 2016 it was estimated there were 32 million visitors, judging by my time there I would think this year looks to be equally as impressive.
